A Hong Kong man recently posted on a discussion forum with the title, "The More I Tutor Kids Born After 2010, the More I Feel That These Primary School Students Are Really Quite Sad." He criticized how children's lives today are drastically different from the past. The poster, a person born after 2000, noted that while tutoring primary school students born after 2010, he observed that most of them "already have their own phone at a young age" and are so engrossed in their phones that they don't seek other forms of play. As a result, their childhood is essentially confined to the world within their phones, which he finds very sad.


Two Heartbreaking Habits Noted: Children Only Know How to Watch Junk Content

The author, through observation, found that Hong Kong children spend most of their phone time on TikTok or Reels, with "9 out of 10" of them constantly scrolling through short 15-second videos, repeating this action over and over. The only entertainment throughout their primary school years seems to be watching junk content on TikTok. In contrast, children in the past would bond over cartoons, but now, those born after 2010 have lost the habit of watching cartoons.
